Column Treatment Progress Report CASE-No. 204: A Patient with Long-Standing Spinal Canal Stenosis

The patient
A female patient in her 70s.
Treated in April 2024. Approximately 12 months have passed since treatment.
Symptoms and treatments to date
This patient had spinal canal stenosis in the areas indicated by the red frame (L1/2, 3/4, 4/5).
Pre-treatment medical history and treatments to date
The patient had suffered from lower back pain for 20 years and was initially diagnosed with disc herniation.
Around 2022, her back pain worsened, and symptoms in her lower limbs began to emerge.
She sought treatment through acupuncture, but it provided no improvement.
The patient visited our clinic seeking to improve her symptoms.
Post-treatment progress

No pain at all is rated as 0 and 10 as the maximum possible pain.

The following is feedback from the patient when contacted for follow-up.
1 week: No noticeable change in pain
1 month: Pain present upon waking, gradually decreasing over time
3 months: Numbness significantly reduced; lower limbs felt more heavy than painful
6 months: Improvement in buttock symptoms while sitting
In this case, spinal canal stenosis is considered the primary condition.
Compared to pre-treatment levels, overall symptoms were reduced by approximately half, although complete resolution was not achieved.
Given the long-standing nature of the condition, it is likely that multiple factors contribute to the symptoms. Continued active rehabilitation is recommended to further support gradual improvement.
