Column Treatment Progress No.47 A patient who had trouble walking but started to feel better

Symptoms and treatment
This patient has spondylolisthesis and spinal stenosis in the area indicated by the red frame (L4/5 intervertebral disc).
L3/4 shows a bulging intervertebral disc.
L5/s shows bone union.
Evolution prior to treatment
At 33 years old: She fell and started feeling back pain.
At 56 years old: She had an operation for an intervertebral disc herniation.
In 2021, When turning over in her sleep, she started feeling pain in her right hip joint. Stretching made the pain better.
In September 2022, when playing volley ball, she injured herself and started feeling numbness in her left leg. She was diagnosed with spondylolisthesis and spinal stenosis at her local orthopedic clinic.
She was recommended to have surgery by her doctor, but didn’t feel it was right for her.
Her walking ability was not harmed, but she still felt numbness when walking for a long period.
The treatment at our clinic
The treatment was performed on a total of two intervertebral discs, 3/4, and 4/5, using the cellgel method.
Evolution consecutive to treatment
The following is a chart in which the patient herself rated the pain value of each area on a scale of 0 to 10.
No pain at all is rated as 0, and the maximum possible pain is rated as 10.

The following comments were obtained from the patient when contacted for follow-up.
After one week, numbness appears in the heel when walking.
After 1 month, she experienced pain from walking too much, but it is no longer as severe as it was before the treatment.
After 3 months, she was able to carry out her normal daily life without any problems. She still feels pain when she wakes up, but overall she was satisfied that her symptoms have improved.
After 6 months, the only pain left is when she wakes up.
The patient this time had trouble walking for a long time without pain and pain when waking up.
After treatment, she exercised a little too hard due to her personality, which caused some pain, but overall things have improved.
The numbness when walking is now gone. She still has some pain when she wakes up, but it has decreased compared to before the treatment, and it is no longer interfering with other aspects of her life.

Risks and side effects of the Cellgel method: Transient pain may occur after treatment. Nerve damage is not a zero possibility due to the very nature of the treatment, but there have been no reports of damage so far in either report cases or publications. There is a very small possibility of allergic reactions to local anesthetics. Symptoms may temporarily worsen during the first week or two after treatment. This is believed to be due to the decompression effect of the implant, which retracts the surrounding tissues. In addition, if the disc is almost completely collapsed, treatment may be difficult.
