schedule

Patient

Female in her 60s

Treated in January 2023. About 5 months have passed since the treatment

Symptoms and treatment

The patient was diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation in the area indicated by the red rectangle (disc L4/5).

Degenerative Disc Disease was also found in the L2/3, 3/4, 4/5, and 5/s discs.

Evolution prior to treatment

Before giving birth, she occasionally had strained her back.

In 2020, she strained her back again and took some medicine. After about a month’s time, she felt better.

In June 2022, she strained her back yet again, this time taking 2 months to recover.

In August 2022, she strained her back again, but this time, she saw no improvement.

She finally decided to come to our clinic for treatment.

The treatment at our clinic

The patient was treated with the Cellgel method on 3 intervertebral discs (L2/3, 3/4, and 4/5).

Evolution consecutive to treatment

The following is a chart in which the patient himself rated the pain value of each area on a scale of 0 to 10.

The following comments were obtained from the patient when contacted for follow-up.

After one week, she had some numbness, but there was no pain.

After 1 month, when she walked for a long time, she would feel some pain. The frequency of numbness decreased and even when she felt numb, it would disappear after around 30 seconds.

After 3 months, once she started going to rehabilitation, the numbness disappeared.

After 6 months, he could live his life normally again without pain or numbness.

For about a week after the treatment, the sudden feeling of painlessness is similar to that of a block injection.

This patient was worried about the amount of numbness she was experiencing, so we referred her to our rehabilitation facility. After two sessions of rehabilitation, she was able to lose the feeling of numbness, and currently does not feel any.

As part of the after follow care, we will recommend patients to our rehabilitation facility, so if you are feeling any uncertainty after treatment, please let us know.

※ It takes about 3 weeks to 3 months to see the effect of the treatment.

※ The effect of the treatment varies from person to person. Please be aware that there is a possibility that the same effect may not be obtained.

Our clinic’s treatment method

Additional information about the Cellgel method we have introduced in this column.

Cost of the Cellgel method: 1,420,000 yen per area (including tax) to 1,860,000 yen per 5 areas (including tax)

Risks and side effects of the Cellgel method: Transient pain may occur after treatment. Nerve damage is not a zero possibility due to the very nature of the treatment, but there have been no reports of damage so far in either report cases or publications. There is a very small possibility of allergic reactions to local anesthetics. Symptoms may temporarily worsen during the first week or two after treatment. This is believed to be due to the decompression effect of the implant, which retracts the surrounding tissues. In addition, if the disc is almost completely collapsed, treatment may be difficult. The doctor hold a consultation with you during your visit to the clinic to determine the best treatment option for your condition.
