Patient

Male in his 70s

Treated in November 2022. About 6 months have passed since the treatment

Symptoms and treatment

The patient was diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation in the area indicated by the red rectangle (disc L2/3, 3/4, 4/5, and 5/s).

Evolution prior to treatment

In 2019, he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and lumbar disc herniation and underwent surgery. His symptoms improved.

In July 2022, he felt some pain and numbness in his left buttock and below to his left knee. He had endoscopic surgery.

In August 2022, his symptoms did not improve so he had another surgery.

He still had some symptoms so he decided to come to our clinic for treatment.

The treatment at our clinic

The patient was treated with the Cellgel method on 4 intervertebral discs (L2/3, 3/4, 4/5 and 5/s).

Evolution consecutive to treatment

The following is a chart in which the patient himself rated the pain value of each area on a scale of 0 to 10.

No pain at all is rated as 0, and the maximum possible pain is rated as 10.

The following comments were obtained from the patient when contacted for follow-up.

After one week, he felt better than he did before the treatment, but some numbness remained.

After 1 month, when he woke up in the morning, he felt some tingles in his leg. After taking some medicine, the symptoms subsided.

After 3 months, when he woke up in the morning, he felt pain in his left leg and some numbness. Once he started walking, he started to feel better again.

After 6 months, he could live his life normally again without pain or numbness.

This patient was troubled by the numbness in his lower left leg when waking up, but half a year after the treatment he was happy that the symptoms finally went away.

When we talked to him 3 months after the treatment, he told us that he had been walking around 8000 steps a day, so he was gradually adding some muscle and we think this is what helped his symptoms get better.

Thanks to the cellgel treatment, the pain from his intervertebral discs gradually disappeared and he was able to live a better life. And they felt better.

※ It takes about 3 weeks to 3 months to see the effect of the treatment.

※ The effect of the treatment varies from person to person. Please be aware that there is a possibility that the same effect may not be obtained.

Our clinic’s treatment method

Additional information about the Cellgel method we have introduced in this column.

Cost of the Cellgel method: 1,420,000 yen per area (including tax) to 1,860,000 yen per 5 areas (including tax)

Risks and side effects of the Cellgel method: Transient pain may occur after treatment. Nerve damage is not a zero possibility due to the very nature of the treatment, but there have been no reports of damage so far in either report cases or publications. There is a very small possibility of allergic reactions to local anesthetics. Symptoms may temporarily worsen during the first week or two after treatment. This is believed to be due to the decompression effect of the implant, which retracts the surrounding tissues. In addition, if the disc is almost completely collapsed, treatment may be difficult. The doctor hold a consultation with you during your visit to the clinic to determine the best treatment option for your condition.
