Sometimes, a misalignment of the bones occurs due to an abnormality in the joints of the spine (intervertebral joints) or in the intervertebral discs. This condition is called spondylolisthesis.

It is said that most spondylolisthesis are anterior, which often applies to either lumbar degenerative spondylolisthesis or lumbar spondylolisthesis.

It is also believed that lumbar spondylolisthesis occurs when the tissues that hold the lumbar spine in place, such as the intervertebral discs, ligaments, and joints, degenerate with age, resulting in a loss of stability of the lumbar spine.

Degenerative Spondylolisthesis

Lumbar degenerative spondylolisthesis is a symptom of lumbar pain that occurs when the position of the lumbar vertebrae shifts from its original position due to degeneration of the intervertebral discs or deterioration of the joints.

(Spondylolytic) Cracked Spondylolisthesis

Spondylolytic spondylolisthesis is a condition in which the back of the lumbar vertebrae cracks due to the load placed on the misaligned spine, causing the entire lumbar spine to become unstable.

Causes of Lumbar Spondylolisthesis

It is believed that lumbar spondylolisthesis occurs when the tissues that hold the lumbar spine in place, such as the intervertebral discs, ligaments, and joints, degenerate with age, resulting in the loss of stability of the lumbar spine.

Recent research indicates that deformation of the intervertebral discs is the root cause of spondylolisthesis. In other words, it is now known that the initial deformation of the intervertebral disc causes increased burden, inflammation, and deformation of the intervertebral joints, instability of the ligaments, and instability of the muscles, and that the overall result of all these causes is the development of spondylolisthesis.

Our clinic offers the Cellgel method as a treatment method for spondylolisthesis. We can also accommodate elderly patients who are at high risk for surgery and those who wish to resume treatment. By repairing and regenerating the degenerated intervertebral discs, we can prevent the spine from becoming misaligned, which is the cause of spondylolisthesis. It also stabilizes unstable vertebrae such as those with spondylolisthesis and prevents pain.
